DESCRIPTION

This is a one week intensive workshop looking at Michael Chekhov's approach to character exploration. Each participant will be asked to choose one character that they will work on for the entire week. We will approach this character from a few different angles, utilizing Chekhov’s ideas behind Archetype, Imaginary Body, Imaginary Center. This workshop should deepen our trust in the imagination to help us approach transformation with a more playful hand, shifting our very understanding of what ‘transformation’ means to each of us individually. Please be very familiar with the play your character is from (yes a play would be better than a screenplay for this workshop) and please have a short bit of your character's text committed to memory. December 14 - 18 Monday - Friday 10:30 am - 3:30 pm ET (30 minute lunch break) 138 West 15th Street $750 Please note, there is 14 day cancellation policy for this class.
